Metacenter Height and the Internal Layout of the BOREY Class Russian SSBN

By Bruce Rule - Oct 22, 2015

The BOREY Class Russian SSBN GTZA OK-9VM and PG-141M main propulsion system
components are axially aligned parallel with but vertically displaced (below) the
main propulsion (pump-jet) shaft line, configurations that requires power transfer
mechanisms.

These configurations may achieve the required metacenter height value which is a
design consideration for submarines during large, high-speed course changes
(snap-roll).
